The Silent Suffering of Men: A Call for Understanding and Support
"Only women, children and dogs are loved unconditionally. A man is only loved under the condition that he provides something."
-Chris Rock
Man, a simple word containing 3 letters brings with it a heavy burden and a barrage of responsibilities, men are the first ones to help and the last ones to be praised in the room.
Maybe because they've been living a whole different life altogether comapred to what they thought their lives would be when they grow up.
The journey of a man is never easy there are people in his life who influence him to become what they want him to be, never even given the choice of what he wants himself to be.
A man is taught, coerced, forced into being the tough, fierce, ruthless being that we see ourselves, expectations all around, parents trying to implement their view of what a man should behave like, peers have another one of what he acts like around girls.
A woman has a whole another level of expectations waiting for him when he meets one, a man is criticised on every single step he takes since his birth to his last breath, he's taught to act brave and stop behaving like a girl when he's hurt and needs to cry, he's told to accept the behaviour being forced upon him if he wants to live in the society and be accepted as a man.
A man constantly and tirelessly through the course of his life does as much as or sometimes even more than what people realise, he provides for the family because that's what his role is as defined by the society.
He works his nights and days to complete the dreams of his parents, brother, sister, and when he grows up to a certain age his wife and children, he's forced to give up his dreams so he can fulfill dreams of those around him.
He's bullied, mocked, battered for even thinking about leaving the boundary of these chains the society has put around his neck in the name of privilege.
Oh yes! women do contribute to this suffering?
Do you hear a woman say she likes a man cause he cries at every single thing that goes wrong?
Or he's into cooking and he wants to take care of the house while she goes ahead and looks for a job.
Do you ever hear a woman say she's looking for a man who wants to follow his dreams(which for most of us means he's broke af), because there's no such thing in the society we're living right now.
Every single one of us knows it, being a man I've known seen and experienced a lot more than what's illustrated here.
Men are judged by their wallets and women by their faces, this is the bitter truth of today's world.
We're at a point where there's no going back, and if any one of us thinks that this is gonna change in our lifetime it would be a daydream to say the least, however there is a way to stop this once and for all to perceive men and women as equals.
For that you'll have to ask yourself are YOU willing to stop this endless cycle, to say no, this does not go on to the next generation, we stop it here and now and create a better tomorrow for the whole world.
Give it a thought at least, be aware of the perspective in front of you and all around, open your minds and let the knowledge sink in, there's more to this world that we ever let on, i do hope to spark a few ideas and better thought process in at least a few people, till then let's keep dreaming.
